Emily Winterbotham is a distinguished professional with extensive experience in counter-terrorism and conflict research. Currently serving as a Senior Associate Fellow and Director of the Terrorism & Conflict Research Group at the Royal United Services Institute, Emily successfully established the research group and expanded it to a 14-member team across multiple locations. With a proven track record in advising government security policies and managing large budgets, Emily has developed expertise in gender-related issues within counter-terrorism and led significant research projects. Additional roles include serving as a Deployable Civilian Expert for the UK Government's Stabilisation Unit and providing strategic guidance as a Political Adviser for the European External Action Service. Emily holds an MSc in Global Politics from the London School of Economics and a BA in History from UCL.
