Komel Merchant

Komel Merchant is a Senior Robotics Software Engineer at Forterra since July 2018, specializing in obstacle detection and state estimation, while supporting perception stacks for various shuttle bus pilot programs and developing algorithms for calibration and object tracking. Previous experience includes serving as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Lehigh University, focusing on deep learning for tumor segmentation and presenting advanced machine learning concepts. As an Undergraduate Researcher, Komel built a TCP/IP communication stack for drone swarms and created real-time visualization tools for motion planning. Initial experience includes a software engineering internship at Vanguard, where legacy code was refactored into modern web technologies. Komel holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Lehigh University and is pursuing a Master of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at The Johns Hopkins University.
