Nicholas Fournier

Nicholas Fournier has a diverse range of work experience in the transportation and engineering fields. Nicholas started their career as a Civil and Environmental Engineer at Benjamini Associates, Inc. in 2011. From 2011 to 2014, they also worked as an Instructor at the Treasure Island Sailing Center. In 2013, they joined Sandis as a Design Engineer before transitioning to the role of Community Planner at Volpe, The National Transportation Systems Center from 2015 to 2017.

In 2014, Nicholas began their academic pursuit at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they obtained their PhD and dual masters in transportation engineering and regional planning. During their time at the university, they worked on various projects related to multi-modal systems, market optimization, demand modeling, bicycle safety, and data science.

Nicholas then took on the role of Research Fellow at Monash University from 2019 to 2020. Following that, they became a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, with a joint appointment between Partners for Advanced Transportation Technology (PATH) and Safe Transportation Research and Education Center (SafeTREC). PATH focuses on traffic engineering and technology, while SafeTREC focuses on safety, planning, policy, and behavior. Nicholas'spostdoctoral position started in 2020 and is ongoing.

Most recently, Nicholas joined RSG - Resource Systems Group, Inc. as a Consultant in February 2022.

Nicholas Fournier's education history begins in 2008 when they enrolled in the University of Massachusetts Amherst for their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, which they completed in 2011.

After their undergraduate studies, Nicholas pursued further education and obtained a Master's degree in Regional Planning from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, finishing in 2016.

In parallel with their master's studies, they also pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Transportation Engineering from the same university, completing it in 2017.

Nicholas further expanded their expertise in Transportation Engineering and attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree, which they acquired between 2016 and 2018.

In addition to their educational background, Nicholas obtained certifications that complement their engineering knowledge. Nicholas became an Engineer in Training (EIT) in 2012 through the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, specifically for California. Moreover, they obtained the US Sailing Level 1 Instructor certification, although specific information regarding the month and year of attainment is not available.
