Helen O'Brien

Helen has worked in the profession for over 25 years, commencing her career in Australia and was the top prizewinner in the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand exams. Following completion of her masters degree she moved to the UK to work in an accounting firm. She returned to Australia in 2000 and has since been heavily involved in goods and services tax advice, reviews and presentations, as well as managing income tax compliance services to clients in various industries.

In the UK, Helen was responsible for rolling out the new PwC audit approach to over 500 staff which involved writing and presenting material, putting procedures in place to ensure compliance including conducting subsequent quality assurance reviews.

One of Helen’s major assignments since returning to Australia involved overseeing tax compliance and advice for RSM’s major clients in Western Australia, including tax consolidation.

Helen’s current major clients are largely involved in the mining, construction and engineering industries, including several listed companies where she provides tax compliance and tax advice, including GST and FBT reviews.
