Leanne Redden has a strong background in transportation and planning. Leanne served as the Executive Director of the Regional Transportation Authority of Northeastern Illinois (RTA) from October 2014 to present, and prior to that, they worked as the Acting Executive Director from March 2014 to October 2014. Before joining the RTA, Redden held the position of Senior Deputy Executive Director at the Regional Transportation Authority, Chicago from October 2005 to February 2014. Leanne also worked as the Chief of Planning at the Illinois Tollway from 2003 to 2005. Additionally, Redden has been involved in the community, serving on the Board of Directors for Chicagoland Habitat for Humanity since September 2016 and on the Board of Directors for the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning since 2008.

Leanne Redden obtained their Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1988 to 1990. Leanne also pursued a Bachelor's degree in Urban Geography with a minor in Economics from UNSW, although specific dates of their studies are not provided.
