Harshani Konara

Research Engineer at RTDS Technologies Inc.

Harshani Konara has a diverse work experience in the field of power systems and engineering. Harshani started their career as a Process Engineer at TOS LANKA CO. (PVT) LTD in 2012. After that, they joined the University of Manitoba in 2013 and held various positions. Harshani worked as a Research Assistant from September 2013 to December 2015, during which they conducted power system simulations and carried out power system planning and design studies. From September 2014 to May 2019, they also served as a Teaching Assistant, facilitating lectures, grading assignments, and conducting lab sessions for graduate and undergraduate courses.

In 2019, Harshani joined TransGrid Solutions as a Power System Specialist from May to November. Harshani then moved to RTDS Technologies Inc. in December, where they worked as a Research Specialist until February 2023. Currently, they hold the position of Research Engineer at the same company.

Overall, Harshani Konara has gained extensive knowledge and skills in power systems and engineering through their research, teaching, and industry experience.

Harshani Konara completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Peradeniya from 2008 to 2012. Harshani then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Manitoba from 2013 to 2015. Following that, they furthered their education and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Manitoba, completing their studies in 2019.

In addition to their formal education, Harshani also obtained additional certifications. In March 2019, they completed the "Applications of PSCAD and Transient Studies" certification program at Manitoba Hydro International. Then, in May 2014, they completed the "RTDS Simulator - Introductory Training Course" at RTDS Technologies Inc.
