Olivia Dong

Associate Director, Health Economics at RTI Health Solutions

Olivia Dong, Ph.D., has a diverse work experience that spans several years. Olivia is currently working as an Associate Director of Health Economics at RTI Health Solutions since May 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Senior Research Health Economist in Health Economics at the same company from July 2021 to April 2023.

Before joining RTI Health Solutions, Olivia served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Duke University School of Medicine from July 2019 to June 2021. During their time there, they led cost-effectiveness analyses for tumor genomic profiling strategies and CYP2C19-guided P2Y12 inhibitor selection for patients with lung cancer and Veterans with ACS/PCI, respectively. These projects resulted in abstracts, scientific presentations, and awards.

Olivia also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Durham VA Health Care System from July 2019 to June 2021. In this role, they collaborated with implementation scientists on quality improvement studies for the VA PHASER clinical program that aims to provide pharmacogenomic testing to Veterans. Additionally, they contributed their expertise in health economics and health outcomes to two research grants. This work led to abstracts, scientific presentations, and a publication.

Earlier in their career, Olivia was a Graduate Student Research Assistant at the Center for Pharmacogenomics and Individualized Therapy, UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, from August 2014 to June 2019. During this time, they acquired research training in pharmaceutical test development and health economics and played a key role in the development of a pharmacogenomic test. Olivia also mentored and trained multiple individuals and built relationships within the scientific community. Their work resulted in multiple publications, textbook chapters, podium presentations, conference abstracts, and awards.

Olivia's early experience includes working as a Research Study Coordinator and Research Dietitian at the UNC Nutrition Research Institute in January 2014. In this role, they designed and managed research pilot studies on low choline intake and muscle function. Olivia also collaborated with a chef to develop meals for a feeding study investigating the effects of betaine on insulin sensitivity.

Olivia Dong, Ph.D. has a strong educational background in the field of healthcare and nutrition. Olivia obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, with a specialization in the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics, from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 2019. Prior to that, they pursued their Master of Public Health Nutrition degree at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, which they completed in 2013. Olivia also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Science, specifically in Dietetics with High Distinction, which they earned from the University of California, Berkeley in 2010.

Furthermore, Olivia Dong also possesses additional certifications in their field. Olivia is a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist, certified by the North Carolina Board of Dietetics/Nutrition. Additionally, they are a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The precise dates of obtaining these certifications are not provided.
