Derek Johnson

Derek Johnson, PE, is a seasoned Principal Welding Engineer currently with RTX since August 2023, previously holding the same position at McDermott International Inc. from August 2019 to August 2023. With extensive experience in the welding engineering field, Derek has served as a Senior Welding Specialist (Global) at Kentz - Member of the SNC Lavalin Group, Senior Welding Engineer (Corporate) at Consolidated Contractors International Company, and Senior Welding Engineer for the Ichthys LNG Project at KBR, Inc. Additionally, Derek's career includes roles as a Ground Combat Welding Engineer for the JLI MRAP Program at SAIC, a Welding Engineer at Kleinfelder, and a self-employed welding and machining service provider. Educationally, Derek obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington between 1999 and 2002, and completed secondary education at Nolan High School in Ft. Worth, Texas, from 1985 to 1989.
