Software Engineer at Rugged Robotics

Kevin Chen has a wealth of experience in software engineering and mechanical engineering. Kevin began their career in 2011 as a Summer Intern at the NASA Johnson Space Center. In 2012, they returned to NASA Johnson Space Center as a Summer Intern. In 2013, they held two positions: Software Development Intern I at Rackspace, the Open Cloud Company, and Project Manager/Translator at The University of Texas at Austin. In 2015, they were a Graduate Research Assistant and Mechanical Engineering Intern at The University of Texas at Austin and National Instruments, respectively. In 2016, they were a DAAD RISE Professional Intern at Bauhaus Luftfahrt e.V. In 2017, they began working as an Advanced Applications Engineer at KUKA, where they designed and developed an MQTT-based data collection pipeline, headed Python-based microservice development, led the development of multiple apps, built a data pipeline monitor, developed a custom Docker container, expanded Scala-based microservices, automated microservice testing and deployment, modified an open source C program, programmed industrial automation robots for demos, and architected and led product deployments. In 2019, they began working as a Software Engineer at Rugged Robotics.

Kevin Chen obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2016. Kevin then went on to pursue a Master of Science (M.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution, which they completed in 2017. In 2020, Kevin obtained certifications in Introduction to Flutter Development Using Dart from The App Brewery, 10-hour Construction Safety and Health from OSHA, and Robot Programming 2 KSS 8.x (KR C4) from KUKA AG.
