Andreas Loeschel

Andreas Loeschel is a prominent academic and expert in economics, currently serving as the Chairman of the Directorium of the Academy Initiative "Energiesysteme der Zukunft" at acatech – Deutsche Akademie der Technikwissenschaften and Leopoldina since January 2024. With extensive experience as a Professor of Economics and Chief Sustainability Officer at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Andreas holds a chair in Environmental/Resource Economics and Sustainability. Additionally, Andreas chairs the German Government Commission Monitoring the Energy Transition and has roles at various institutes, including RWI - Leibniz Institute for Economic Research and Aurora Energy Research Ltd., among others. Educational achievements include a Dr. in Economics from the University of Mannheim, a habilitation from Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, a Diplom from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, and an M.A. in Economics from Wayne State University.
