Pedro Couto e Santos

Pedro Couto e Santos has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Pedro is currently working as the Director of Design – Europe at Rune Labs since May 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Impossible for seven years, starting as a Designer in November 2015 and eventually becoming the Design Director in July 2018. In this role, they led the Design team in the Lisbon Studio, oversaw design projects, managed client relations, and traveled internationally to meet client expectations.

Before their time at Impossible, Pedro worked at SAPO for twelve years. Pedro started as a Designer in November 2003, responsible for designing products and interfaces on multiple platforms. Pedro later became the Head of Design & Normalization in June 2010, leading a senior team of designers and working on higher profile projects. During this time, they also focused on design thinking, normalization, and design evangelization.

Aside from their work in the digital design industry, Pedro has also pursued their passion for art and writing. Pedro co-authored the comic strip series "The Specialists" since 1998, and it is currently being republished online. Pedro also had experience in game design as the Lead Artist, UI Designer, Sound FX Creator, and Musician for the iOS game "Nut Factory" from January 2011 to February 2012.

Pedro's career started with founding and managing Nitrodesign from May 1998 to September 2011, and working as a Graphic Design Software Teacher at Ar.co in 1998-1999. Pedro also worked as a freelance 3D modeler and animator for TV infographics from June 1997 to June 1998.

Pedro Couto e Santos began their education journey in 1985 when they attended Escola Secundária Emídio Navarro for their high school education. Pedro studied Design and Applied Arts at this institution until 1990. Following this, Pedro pursued further education at Escola Secundária Fernão Mendes Pinto in 1990-1991, where they focused on Art/Art Studies, General during their high school studies. Finally, Pedro enrolled at Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa from 1991 to 1996, where they completed their graduate degree in Communication Design. In terms of certifications, Pedro obtained the HIPPA Certificate and Security Awareness Certificate from Accountable HQ in May 2022. These certifications suggest a commitment to professional development and acquiring additional skills.
