Rune Labs was founded by a team with experience in hardware engineering, software development, and marketing. The team has worked at companies such as Verily Life Sciences, Revel Body, Pindrop, Kensho Technologies, Marcus Autism Center, Evidation Health, and HITLAB Healthcare Innovation Lab. They have also been involved in academic research at institutions such as UC Berkeley, Brown University, George Washington University, Tel Aviv University, and UCSF Medical Center.
