Rukiya Curvey Johnson has extensive experience in community health equity and education, currently serving as Vice President of Community Health Equity and Executive Director of the Rush Education & Career Hub at Rush University System for Health since September 2017. Johnson focuses on transformational strategies for increasing educational attainment and economic mobility among underrepresented groups in STEM and healthcare. Previously, Johnson worked at Chicago Public Schools for nearly a decade, where roles included Executive Director of STEM and Strategic Initiatives, and Director of Turnaround & Transformation, leading initiatives to enhance educational standards and support struggling schools. Earlier experience includes serving as Executive Director and CEO of the Shrine of the Black Madonna Cultural Center & Bookstore. Johnson holds an MBA from the University of Michigan's Stephen M. Ross School of Business and a BA in Psychology and Spanish from the University of Virginia.
