James Pickens is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in patent infringement and trade secret litigation, currently serving as a Partner at Russ, August & Kabat since June 2019. In addition to litigation, Pickens founded a legal practice focused on intellectual property and financing for software developers and video game publishers. Prior roles include Associate positions at Russ, August & Kabat and Reed Smith LLP, where experience spanned transactional law and entertainment contracts. Academic credentials include a J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a degree in English from Georgetown University, complemented by research-focused roles in various legal and financial contexts.

Russ August & Kabat was founded in 1990 by Larry Russ, Rick August and Jules Kabat.
