Tamara J Peters

Associate Director, Career Student Communities at Rutgers University

Tamara is the Associate Director of Career Student Communities. She serves as the program director for career student communities LGBTQ, Military Veterans, and Women. She manages campus partner advisory boards, connects students with exploration and networking opportunities through alumni mentorship and engagement, and provides tailored programming and advising services. She also oversees program directors and graduate coordinators focused on the career student communities of Black and Latinx, Doctoral Students, First-generation Students, International Students, Student-Athletes, Students with Disabilities, Student Employees, and Student Organization Leaders.

In Tamara's previous role, she was a career advisor for the Business, Financial Services, and Logistics career interest community. She delivered career advising to students, conducted industry-related career development programming, and cultivated campus partnerships with faculty and staff.

Tamara has a master’s degree in Counselor Education from The College of New Jersey and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Elizabethtown College. Before working in career services, she achieved ten years of success in her human resources and operations career at Dow Jones & Company.
