Sara Townsend began their career in 1998 as a Graphic Artist at Houston Community Newspapers. In 2008, they began their academic career at Sam Houston State University, where they served as a Teaching Assistant, Undergraduate Research in Chemistry, and Robert A. Welch Fellowship. In 2011, they moved to Oregon State University, where they were a Graduate Student and Graduate Research in Chemistry. From 2014 to 2017, they worked as a Chemistry Associate at Sarepta Therapeutics, followed by a role as QC Chemist at W. R. Grace & Co. from 2017 to 2021. Sara currently works as a Scientist III at Matrivax Corporation and as a Senior Scientist at RVAC Medicines, where they act as a subject-matter expert for analytical assays supporting RNA and nucleic acid delivery technologies and provides input on discovery and early development programs.
Sara Townsend obtained their Master of Science (MS) in Analytical Chemistry from Oregon State University between 2011 and 2013. Prior to that, they earned their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry and Mathematics from Sam Houston State University between 2007 and 2011.
