Anthony P. Campau helps clients to understand and impact regulatory developments, make business decisions in complex regulatory environments, and develop internal systems for managing ongoing compliance and effectiveness.
Anthony advises clients on complex regulatory, privacy, data, compliance, and corporate governance issues. He serves public and private companies, startups, nonprofits, federal contractors, and public-private partnerships across multiple sectors.
As a former regulator, judicial law clerk, and in-house counsel, Anthony sees and understands the many dimensions of regulatory and other legal challenges and helps clients to navigate them successfully. He counsels on emerging regulatory threats and opportunities, change-of-control issues, multi-jurisdictional challenges, corporate governance, corporate policies and compliance systems, federal and commercial contracts, audits and investigations, and opportunities to improve regulatory frameworks and outcomes.
He previously served as chief of staff and counselor at the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) within the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB), which oversees the development of most new federal regulations and guidance, sets and enforces federal privacy and statistical policy, and plays a leading role in new initiatives like the regulation of artificial intelligence and the development of bilateral regulatory cooperation agreements. He clerked for the Hon. Neomi Rao, Circuit Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, was in-house counsel and assistant secretary of the board for a large university, and served as a regulatory fellow at a major think tank in Washington, D.C.
