Nellie Hirschhausen

Nellie Hirschhausen is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in Aboriginal engagement, language interpreting, and community services. Currently serving as the Aboriginal Engagement Lead at SA Water since February 2023, Nellie previously managed South Australia's inaugural Aboriginal language interpreting service at the Department of Human Services SA. Additional roles include senior policy and project officer at the Australasian Youth Justice Administration and Indigenous Connections Banker at Westpac, where Nellie provided specialized banking services to remote Aboriginal communities. Prior experience includes case management as an Aboriginal Family Practitioner for the Department for Child Protection and operational duties as a Police Officer with the South Australian Police. Nellie also managed legal services for the Family Violence Legal Service Aboriginal Corporation. Education credentials include a Leading Economic Growth program from Harvard Kennedy School and a Bachelor of Arts in Aboriginal Studies from Flinders University.
