Fred Blomshield

Fred Blomshield is an accomplished Aerospace Engineer with extensive experience in combustion instability, particularly in solid rocket systems. Currently serving as an Aerospace Engineer at Saalex Solutions since March 2021, Fred has worked on a consulting project for the Army addressing combustion issues in motor development. As a self-employed consultant since August 2012, Fred has applied expertise in rocket propulsion to both industry and government sectors. Additionally, Fred has been a part-time faculty member at The University of Alabama in Huntsville since April 2016, teaching a graduate-level course on solid propellant combustion instability. Previous roles include contract consulting for the Navy at Advanced Technology Analysis and Computing (ATAC) and The Patuxent Partnership, and a long tenure at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division where Fred retired as Branch Head of Combustion Sciences. Fred holds multiple degrees, including a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Purdue University.
