Profile Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Director of Accounting and Tax to lead our accounting and tax functions. This critical role will oversee all accounting operations, financial reporting, tax compliance, and strategy for our diverse portfolio of SaaS companies. The Director of Accounting and Tax will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will initially manage a team of four direct reports. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and extensive experience in managing complex accounting and tax issues, particularly in the context of mergers and acquisitions. A deep understanding of the SaaS business model is a plus.

Your immediate impact in the first 3-6 months will be:

  • Understand our processes and come up with the mid/long-term roadmap
  • Review software systems and formulate an idea where to focus in order to improve accounting quality
  • Assume ownership of the annual audit.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop and mentor a high-performing accounting and tax team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Exhibit strong leadership capabilities by setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, and ensuring the professional growth of the accounting and tax team.
  • Drive the selection, design and implementation of accounting software solutions at a group and brand levelLead and oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP and other applicable regulations.Improve and complement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Implement a tax compliance management system and oversee the preparation and filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns
  • Provide strategic tax planning and advice to optimize the group’s tax position and minimize tax liabilities.
  • Oversee the integration of accounting and tax functions for newly acquired companies, ensuring seamless transitions and alignment with the group’s standards.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits and tax examinations.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including M&A, HR and legal, to support acquisition activities and ensure accurate financial due diligence and integration.

What You bring to the table

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of accounting and tax experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Extensive experience in a multi-entity, multinational corporate environment, preferably within the SaaS or technology sector.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and tax regulations in both North America and Europe.
  • German GAAP knowledge is a Plus.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • High degree of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
