Prof. Dr. Cem Güneri is Sabancı University Vice Rector for Education. He has been working as a faculty member at Sabancı University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences since 2001. He took an active role with the founding faculty members of the University in the development of undergraduate mathematics courses, minor programs and graduate programs. Since joining the University, he has held various administrative positions and boards such as Mathematics Program Coordinator, Foundation Development Program Advisory Board member, University Education Committee member. Between 2012 and 2018, he served as the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, and took on educational responsibilities, including the accreditation processes of the Faculty Programs.
Cem Güneri received his BA from Middle East Technical University and his PhD from Louisiana State University in Mathematics. His fields of study can be summarized as finite fields and algebraic curves defined on them, algebraic coding theory and some cryptological applications. As part of the research group in these fields at Sabancı University, she continued her studies with national and international partners and within the scope of various projects, graduating 5 doctorate and 7 graduate students. He was a member of the Board of the Turkish Mathematical Society between 2010-2018.
He is a member of the Turkish Mathematical Society, the American Mathematical Society and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
