Stefanos Zafeiriou

Stefanos Zafeiriou currently serves as the AR Perception Lead at Google since April 2023 and co-founded Safe Intelligence, focusing on enhancing and verifying AI solutions, and Cogitat, which aims to seamlessly merge mind and machine. Zafeiriou holds multiple academic titles at Imperial College London, including Professor and Reader in Machine Learning and Computer Vision, and has been involved in extensive research on facial expression recognition and computer vision. Prior roles include co-founding and serving as CTO of Facesoft and Chief Scientist at Emphatiq and Ariel AI, the latter being acquired by Snap, Inc. Zafeiriou's distinguished research fellowship at the University of Oulu further highlights a career dedicated to advancements in machine learning and AI technologies, supported by a PhD in Computer Vision and Statistical Machine Learning from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
