Marija Gajdardziska-Josifovska, PhD has a long and distinguished career in academia. Marija began their career in 1993 as the first woman faculty member in Physics at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. Marija was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 1996 and to Full Professor in 1999. In 2000, they were appointed Assistant Chair of the Department of Physics and in 2001 they were appointed Department Chair of the College of Letters and Science at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. In 2003, they were appointed Director of the Laboratory for Surface Studies and in 2010 they became a member of the Council of Graduate Schools. In 2014, they were named a Fellow of the Microscopy Society of America. In 2016, they co-founded SafeLi LLC, a university-incubated startup, where they serve as the Chief Technology Officer. Most recently, they were appointed Associate Dean of Graduate School and Associate Dean for Natural Sciences at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.

Marija Gajdardziska-Josifovska, PhD began their educational journey in 1975 when they attended Josip Broz Tito, obtaining a High School-Gimnasium in Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Marija then attended the University of Saints Cyril and Methodius from 1977 to 1981, earning a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics. In 1985, they obtained an M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Sydney. Finally, Marija Gajdardziska-Josifovska, PhD completed their education in 1991 with a PhD in Physics from Arizona State University. Additionally, they have obtained a Harvard Management Development Program certification.
