Matt Blayney has extensive work experience in both the British Army and the education sector. Matt began their career in the British Army in 2007, serving in the Cambridge University Officers' Training Corps until 2010. In 2012, they joined the Army again and served in multiple roles, including Lieutenant (Infantry Platoon Commander) and Battle Captain. Matt later became a Company Commander and an Instructing Officer at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Parallel to their military career, Blayney also worked in education. Matt served as a Teacher of History and Head of House at Parkside Federation Academies from 2012 to 2017. Matt then joined Saffron Walden County High School, where they held the positions of Assistant Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher.
Matt Blayney has a strong educational background in the field of education and history. In 2006, they attended the University of East Anglia, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in History and Politics. Matt successfully completed their undergraduate studies in 2010. Following this, Matt proceeded to the University of Cambridge in 2011 to enhance their knowledge and skills in education. There, they obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Education with a specialization in History in 2012. Building upon their previous qualifications, Matt continued their education at the University of Cambridge, attaining a Master of Education (MEd) degree in Educational Leadership and School Improvement in 2014.
