Karen Howarth

VP, Clinical Development at SAGA Diagnostics

Karen Howarth started their work experience in 2004 as a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, where they managed research projects, prepared grants and papers, and supervised research assistants and students. One of their key achievements was the development of array painting for high-resolution mapping of chromosome translocation breakpoints in breast cancer, which led to the identification of one of the first fusion genes in breast cancer. Karen worked at the University of Cambridge until 2015.

In 2015, Karen joined Inivata, a global clinical cancer genomics company, where they held various roles such as Head of Cancer Genomics, Senior Director of Clinical Genomics, and VP of Clinical Genomics. Their responsibilities at Inivata included project leadership, data analysis, and effective delivery of results to collaborators. Their work has resulted in several presentations and publications. Karen worked at Inivata until 2022.

Since 2022, Karen has been working at SAGA Diagnostics AB as VP of Clinical Development.

Karen Howarth obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge from 1997 to 2000. Karen further pursued their education and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford from 2000 to 2004.
