Marijn Lijffijt has extensive work experience in various research and scientific roles. They currently hold the position of Associate Director, Translational Medicine at Sage Therapeutics since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Baylor College of Medicine, Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences from 2013 to 2022. During this time, they served as an Assistant Research Professor / Principal Investigator, leading cross-functional teams on studies awarded by various organizations. Their responsibilities included grant writing, data analysis, patient recruitment, project management, and staff hiring. They also served as a Research Scientist, leading NIMH-funded projects and industry-sponsored clinical trials in PTSD and depression, focusing on biomarker integration, staff supervision, and outcome interpretation.
Before joining Baylor College, Marijn worked as a Research Scientist at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Dept. Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences from 2005 to 2013. Their responsibilities included project management, subject enrollment, patient assessments, and statistical analysis. Prior to this, they worked as a Post-doctoral Fellow at The University of Texas Medical Branch in 2005 and as a Post-doctoral fellow at Unilever in 2004.
Throughout their career, Marijn has demonstrated expertise in various research areas such as translational medicine, psychiatry, neuroscience, and clinical trials. They have a strong track record in grant writing, data analysis, project management, and scientific publication.
Marijn Lijffijt completed a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Human neuropsychopharmacology from Utrecht University, spanning from 1999 to 2004. Prior to that, from 1997 to 1999, they pursued a Master of Science - MS in Human psychopharmacology and electrophysiology, also at Utrecht University. In addition to their formal education, Marijn Lijffijt obtained a certification in Google Project Management: Specialization from Coursera in June 2022.
