Alun James

Alun James has extensive work experience in various industries. Alun started their career as a Senior Scientific Officer at Admiralty Research Establishment in 1992. Alun then worked at DERA, an agency of the UK Ministry of Defense, where they held various roles related to the development of sonar. Alun'sresponsibilities included team leadership, program delivery, trials leadership, and representing UK interests in international defense exchanges.

In 2000, Alun joined Scientific Generics as a Consultant, where they engaged in science and technology consultancy activities for clients in the industrial, consumer, and medical markets. Alun successfully managed several programs that resulted in commercial exploitation.

In 2004, Alun became the Technical Director & Co-Founder of Sensopad Limited, where they played a key role in leading the technical aspects of the company.

In 2007, Alun joined Sagentia Innovation as a Senior Consultant. Alun was responsible for technology consulting, innovation, and technology development. Alun'srole involved new business development as well as delivering consultancy services. During their time at Sagentia, they developed novel products for consumer clients and contributed to the growth of the business.

In 2011, Alun took on the role of Head of Industrial - Europe at Sagentia, and later became the VP and Head of Industrial, where they doubled the size of the Industrial business unit. Alun also created a new business unit focused on Oil & Gas and learned the importance of marketing in developing new markets.

In 2013, Alun joined OTM Consulting as the SVP of Technology & Product Development.

Currently, Alun serves as the Chief Technology Officer for Sagentia's Consumer, FMCG/CPG, AgriTech, Food&Beverage, Industrial, Energy, Aerospace, and Defense sectors. Alun ensures technical excellence and commercial pragmatism in delivering services to global clients.

Alun James has a diverse education history. In 1988, they obtained an MA (Hons) degree in Mathematics from the University of Oxford. Alun then pursued further studies and completed an MSc in Mathematical modelling & numerical analysis at the University of Oxford in 1992. Following this, they attended Imperial College London from 1997 to 1999, where they obtained a PhD in Theoretical acoustics. In 2011, Alun attended the Cambridge Judge Business School and completed the Cambridge General Management Programme. Lastly, in 2013, they attended The Wharton School for an Executive Development Programme.
