Previous positions include Field Representative at the U.S. Census Bureau, Poll Worker/Inspector for the Board of Elections in New York City, and Senior Clerk at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. David's educational background is extensive, with numerous certifications related to mental health, health education, and community advocacy.

SAGE is the country's largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ+) older adults. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in New York City, SAGE is a national organization that offers supportive services and consumer resources to LGBTQ+ older adults and their caregivers, advocates for public policy changes that address the needs of LGBTQ+ older people, provides education and technical assistance for aging providers and LGBTQ+ organizations through its National Resource Center on LGBT Aging, and cultural competence training through SAGECare. With staff located across the country, SAGE also coordinates SAGENet, a growing network of affiliates in the United States.
