Mr. Ahmed started his career as a faculty member at College of Engineering- Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and worked there from 2000 to 2013. He served as a lecturer in Transportation Engineering. He received my Master's Degree in Traffic Engineering from University of Texas at Austin where he worked as a research project manager as well at the Center for Transportation Research that is attached to the university.
In 2013, he left SQU to work as the Managing Director for Najed Al Ahliya LCC, which is a contracting company for oil and gas projects. With his team they managed to grow the company revenue 3 folds in less than 3 years. Furthermore, with limited resources they managed to win PDO Off-Plot Delivery Contract for the North (Fahud, Yibal, and Lekhwair) that is worth $100M. This was the first time a local community contractor was awarded a PDO direct contract of that size.
In 2016, he joined Port of Salalah as the General Manager for Projects Development and Implementation. Then, in 2018 his scope expanded to include Maintenance and Repair. This role covered infrastructure projects development and management, port facilities maintenance, port equipment maintenance and repair, port power plant, maintenance planning, and stores.
In 2020, Ahmed's assignment changed where he became member of the Executive Management Team to focus more on major upcoming expansion projects and the stakeholder management scope entailed. Since then, his role has been Head of Projects and Strategy Development. My role covers aspects ranging from heading equipment procurement projects to part-taking in new concession agreement development with multiple stakeholders.
