Rob Kelly, MD is a full-time emergency physician caring for patients at Salem Hospital since 1997. Raised in Salem, and a graduate of Sprague High School, Kelly got his medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University and completed a residency in the specialty of emergency medicine at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Florida. He is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
Kelly has served in multiple leadership roles during his career at Salem Hospital, including medical director of the emergency department. He helped design and evolve the Salem Health Physicians Leadership Institute, and has received two Salem Health Service Excellence Awards. Since 2007, he has served as President and CEO of Salem Emergency Physicians Service. The group includes 37 board-certified emergency physicians and 6 Advanced Practice Providers caring for patients 24/7 in the Salem Hospital Emergency Department. As a Level 2 trauma center, treating over 100,000 patients annually, it is the busiest ED on the West Coast outside of Los Angeles.
In addition to Salem Health Board service since 2014, Kelly is actively involved with hospital leadership to improve patients’ experience in moving efficiently from the emergency department to the hospital ward and discharge. Kelly contributes a frontline physician’s expertise in delivering excellent and compassionate emergency care to the community.
