Edwin Chan began their professional career in 2013 as a Research Intern at the National University of Singapore's Winkler's Lab. In 2015, they were a Research Intern at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy's Institute of Water Policy. In 2016, they were an Intern at the Centre for Strategic Futures and also a Research Project Intern at the National University of Singapore, where they implemented a deep ensemble learning pipeline for variant calling and developed a pipeline for generation and analysis of artificial variant call datasets. From 2017 to 2022, Edwin worked at the Centre for Strategic Infocomm Technologies (CSIT) as a Data Scientist and Senior Data Scientist. During their time at CSIT, they led key innovation areas for the applications of data science, designed the authentication/authorization framework for data science products, and collaborated with infrastructure teams to support the containerized deployment of data science products on Kubernetes and Rancher. Edwin also explored and analyzed large scale datasets to develop new use-cases and potential areas of research, identified bot campaigns on Twitter, and developed an analytics application to automatically detect signals of interest from dynamic graph and behavioral data. Currently, Edwin is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Saleswhale, a 6sense company.
Edwin Chan attended the National University of Singapore from 2012 to 2017, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Life Sciences, with Computer Science and Physics minors. Edwin also obtained five certifications from Coursera, including Algorithms Specialization in April 2020, Greedy Algorithms, Minimum Spanning Trees, and Dynamic Programming in August 2018, Graph Search, Shortest Paths, and Data Structures in May 2018, Neural Networks and Deep Learning in October 2017, and Divide and Conquer, Sorting and Searching, and Randomized Algorithms in September 2017.
