Esther Epum

Scientist, Mobile Elements at SalioGen Therapeutics

Esther Epum is a Scientist, Mobile Elements at SalioGen Therapeutics since 2022. Prior to this, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at Brandeis University from 2019 to 2022, where they studied Break-induced replication (BIR), a DNA repair pathway. From 2013 to 2019, Esther was a PhD candidate at Vanderbilt University, where they designed, developed and implemented a yeast genetic screen to identify candidate genes involved in regulating telomerase action at DNA double-strand breaks. Esther also identified and characterized regions of the genome that undergo remarkable high rates of telomere addition, and explored the relationship between telomere addition and some other non-conservative repair pathways.

Esther Epum obtained their Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Abia State University. Esther then went on to earn their Master of Arts in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from Fisk University in 2012. In 2013, they began their Doctor of Philosophy in Biology/Biological Sciences, General at Vanderbilt University and obtained their degree in 2019. Additionally, Esther obtained a Doctor of Philosophy certification from Vanderbilt University in September 2019 and a Communicating across Cultures certification from LinkedIn in March 2017.
