Calvin Lau

Calvin Lau is an accomplished Bioinformatics Analyst II at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies since November 2020, with a strong background in research and development from his tenure as a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Irvine from September 2014 to June 2020. His expertise includes the development of automated signal processing pipelines and machine learning frameworks for biosensor signal analysis, as well as evaluating DNA polymerases for single-molecule DNA sequencing. Calvin's earlier experience encompasses roles as a Junior Scientist at Porifera, where automation software was developed for membrane performance, and as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at UC Berkeley, focusing on vacuum annealing processes. Calvin holds a PhD in Chemical and Materials Physics/Biophysics and an MS in Physics from UC Irvine, along with a BA in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley.
