Munish Pahwa

Munish Pahwa, Ph.D., serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer at Sallie Mae since June 2021, previously holding the positions of Interim Chief Risk Officer and Chief Credit Risk Officer & Model Risk Officer. Pahwa has been a member of the Board of Directors at the Center of Economics Education and Entrepreneurship since July 2011. Prior experience includes roles as Consumer Credit Executive and Risk Executive at Bank of America from 2005 to June 2021, and Senior Vice President at MBNA America from 1999 to 2005, along with various risk management positions at PNC Financial Services Group and Bank of New York Mellon. Pahwa's education background includes a Ph.D. in Economics from the Alfred Lerner College of Business & Economics at the University of Delaware and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.
