Tharindu Yapa Abeywardana

Tharindu Yapa Abeywardana has extensive experience in economic research and strategy, currently serving as Chief Economist and Head of Research at Sampath Bank since September 2015. Prior to this role, Tharindu worked as Senior Associate Vice President at Copal Amba, a Moody’s subsidiary, focusing on financial modeling, valuation, and equity research from August 2010 to September 2015. Earlier experience includes serving as a Research Assistant at The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce from May 2007 to March 2010, where responsibilities included preparing government submissions and coordinating trade-related activities. Tharindu holds a Master of Science in Financial Economics from the University of Essex, a Bachelor of Science in Economics & Management from the University of London, and a Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Education was completed at Royal College from 1989 to 2002.
