James P. Edwards

James Edwards serves as a Venture Partner at Samsara BioCapital since September 2022. Prior to this role, James held multiple leadership positions at The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, including VP and Global Head of In Silico Discovery & External Innovation in Discovery Sciences from May 2018 to September 2022, as well as US Head and East Coast Regional Head of Discovery Chemistry. James's earlier experience includes serving as Senior Director of Medicinal Chemistry in Immunology at J&J and as Senior Research Fellow at Ligand Pharmaceuticals. Education credentials include a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a post-doctoral fellowship in Chemistry at Emory University, and a BS in Chemistry from Harvey Mudd College.
