Declan Tarrant

Declan Tarrant has a strong background in software engineering and leadership roles. Declan is currently the Senior Director, Engineering and Site Leader at Samsara, a position they have held since September 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Sensormatic as the Senior Director, Software Engineering, where they held various roles from June 2016 to September 2022. At Sensormatic, they were responsible for leading software engineering teams and overseeing the development of software and firmware components.

Before joining Sensormatic, Declan worked at Johnson Controls as the Senior Manager, Software/Firmware Engineering from March 2015 to June 2016. In this role, they led a team of 40+ developers and focused on developing software APIs and firmware SDKs for an IoT platform.

Prior to Johnson Controls, Declan held the position of Senior Development Manager / Chief Software Architect at Alanya Ltd from February 2013 to February 2015. Declan led the development of a SaaS solution for collecting and analyzing bovine behavioral patterns, contributing to the backend, mobile, web, and firmware components.

Declan began their career at IBM, where they worked from June 2006 to February 2013. Declan held the role of Lead Developer (Lotus / CIO Office) from June 2006 to September 2009, and later served as a Senior Software Developer (Tivoli) from August 2010 to February 2013. At IBM, they focused on improving the performance and scalability of key solutions in the areas of Infrastructure as a Service and Software Defined Network Configuration Management.
