Katherine Livins

Katherine Livins has a strong background in data science and engineering, with their most recent role being the Head of Data Science and Engineering at Samsara starting in October 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Apple from 2018 to 2022, holding various positions including Senior Manager and Manager of Data Science, where they led projects focused on improving Siri's performance and implementing rigorous evaluation methods. Before Apple, they were a Senior Data Scientist at Netflix from 2017 to 2018, where they focused on using big data to enhance the member product experience. Katherine also gained experience as a Data Scientist at Stitch Fix from 2015 to 2017, where they developed optimization strategies for the styling platform. Katherine began their career as a Fellow at Insight Data Science in 2015 and conducted research as a PhD researcher at the University of California Merced from 2013 to 2015.

Katherine Livins earned their Bachelor's Degree from the University of Toronto in the years 2003-2007. Katherine then pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Psychology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa from 2010-2013. Following that, they furthered their education by obtaining another Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree, this time in Cognitive Science, at the University of California Merced from 2013-2015.
