Rebecca Handelsman

Rebecca Handelsman's work experience includes serving as the Senior Director of Communications & Exhibits at the San Diego Natural History Museum since March 2023, and previously as the Senior Director of Communications at the same museum from June 2013 to December 2023. Rebecca was also the Board President of the San Diego Museum Council from July 2017 to June 2021. Before that, they worked as the Senior Communications & Marketing Manager at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego from April 2010 to May 2013. Prior to that, they held the position of Marketing Director at Westfield from October 2004 to April 2010. Rebecca also worked as a Senior Account Executive at Nuffer, Smith, Tucker from January 2000 to September 2004, and as an Account Executive at Laughlin/Constable from September 1995 to December 1999, where they handled national media relations and product placement for lifestyle apparel brands.

Rebecca Handelsman completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Spanish at St. Norbert College from 1991 to 1995. In 1994, they also briefly studied at the Universidad de Granada. In 2019, they obtained an Advance program certification from LEAD San Diego.
