Kristin Klingvall

Kristin Klingvall is the Controller at the San Francisco Ballet. Kristin started their position while the Academy was preparing to move from its temporary downtown location to its original home in Golden Gate Park. Kristin has since implemented the revenue recognition process for new ticketing system, time keeping system and purchasing system, improved the fund accounting, instituted project based accounting, enhanced and implemented internal controls, facilitated grants administration and managed the annual audit process resulting in zero findings two years in a row, all while managing 13 staff members. Kristin obtained user buy-in for new processes. Attend & present financial outlook at finance and investment committee meetings and communicate financial results to peers and senior leadership team. Established a company-wide policy web page. Responsible for keeping the accounting guide up to date (policies and procedures). Working at the Academy continues to be a pleasure. It is large enough to be interesting and challenging while small enough to allow Kristin to become familiar with all staff members. Its large operating budget, its various funds and their peculiar reporting requirements, the healthy endowment and its various investment vehicles, the capital projects, and a diverse staff present a number of special challenges to keep Kristin very busy every day.

In early 2014, their team and they implemented Fusion, an Oracle ERP Cloud product, to run our accounting processes including fixed assets and purchasing modules. It was a beast to implement and the learning curve is pretty steep too but we went live as scheduled with the accounting piece. Purchasing went live a couple of months later; Projects is still to come.

Kristin Klingvall has an EMBA from Santa Clara University in Business Administration and a BS in Accounting from University of Phoenix. Kristin also has a degree in Economics (Major) and English (Minor) from Gardesskolan.

Their manager is Robert Fore, Chief Financial Officer. They are on a team with Valerie Ruban - Accounting Supervisor, Karen Hill - Staff Accountant, and Brandey Bolton - Staff Accountant.
