Alexa Kielty has extensive experience in environmental program design and execution, currently serving as the Residential Zero Waste and Special Projects Assistant at the San Francisco Department of the Environment since September 2002. In this role, Alexa designed and implemented significant initiatives, including an apartment food scrap composting collection program and the city's Mandatory Recycling and Composting Ordinance. Prior to this position, Alexa was an Organics Associate at Solid Waste Management, where public speaking and outreach on Zero Waste programs were key responsibilities, alongside organizing workshops for event producers. Alexa's career began with an internship at Ecology Action, where event coordination led to record participation rates for the Bike to Work Santa Cruz initiative. Alexa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
