Charles Sheehan serves as the Chief Policy and Public Affairs Officer for the San Francisco Department of the Environment since February 2018, overseeing the development and implementation of environmental laws aimed at reducing emissions and promoting zero waste. Prior to this, Charles held the position of Interim Communications Director and Communications Manager at the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission from May 2009 to September 2017, leading media campaigns that enhanced the utility's public image. Earlier experience includes serving as a Senior Associate & Project Manager at Barnes Mosher Whitehurst Lauter & Partners and as Deputy Political Director for Hull for Senate. Charles holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/War History from Northwestern University and a General Course Degree in War History from The London School of Economics and Political Science.
