Auriel Garza

Curatorial Assistant of Painting & Sculpture at SFMOMA

Auriel May Garza, MA, BFA, currently serves as a Curatorial Assistant for Painting and Sculpture at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art since November 2021. Previously, Garza held significant roles including Associate Director at Laura Rathe Fine Art and Educational Resources Coordinator at the Kimbell Art Museum, where efforts focused on educational programming and resource development. As a Board Member of Art Tooth, responsibilities included supporting local artists and enhancing the arts community in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Garza's extensive experience includes internships and roles in various prestigious institutions, contributing to exhibitions, educational initiatives, and curatorial projects. Academic qualifications include a Master of Arts in Art History from Texas Christian University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Art History, Theory, and Criticism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
