John Cote

John Cote is an experienced communications professional, currently serving as the Communications Director for both the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission since November 2021, and the San Francisco City Attorney's Office since October 2016. Prior to these roles, John held the position of Strategic Communications Manager at the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency from February 2015 to October 2016. John began a career in journalism as a Staff Writer at the South Florida Sun Sentinel from January 2005 to May 2006, and at The Modesto Bee from June 2002 to January 2005, and continued as a Staff Writer at the San Francisco Chronicle from May 2006 to February 2015. John holds a Master's Degree in Journalism from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from the University of Colorado Boulder.
