Erik Nugteren

Erik Nugteren is an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in water utility management and construction. Currently serving as the Assistant Chief Engineer and Director of Construction at San Jose Water Company since February 2012, Erik oversees the management and implementation of a substantial annual Capital Construction budget, directing over $60 million in projects each year. Prior to this role, Erik spent over two decades at the City of Vallejo, where responsibilities included managing a $36 million utility enterprise fund, overseeing a staff of 50, and ensuring regulatory compliance and effective infrastructure planning. Erik's career began as a civil engineer, specializing in engineering design and project management for various utilities. Erik holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a minor in Psychology from the University of California, Davis.
