Samanthi Hewakapuge

Samanthi Hewakapuge is currently the Director of Library Services at San Juan College since August 2019. Previously, Samanthi served as the Branch & Systems Librarian at Dine' College from May 2016 to August 2019, overseeing the management of the Senator John Pinto Library and supervising staff members. Between May 2008 and April 2016, Samanthi was the Consumer Health Coordinator for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (Greater Midwestern Region), where responsibilities included coordinating the consumer health program and training librarians. Additional experience includes serving as a Presenter/Speaker at the Tribal College Librarians Institute in 2013-2014, as well as working as a Health Sciences Reference and Outreach Librarian at Ohio University and an Outreach Information Specialist at the College of Pharmacy, University of Arizona. Samanthi holds a Master's degree in Library Science from the University of Arizona and a Master's degree in Communication and Development Studies from Ohio University, along with a Postgraduate Diploma in International Studies and a Bachelor's degree in History.
