Sandy Gilpin

AVP for Learning at San Juan College

Sandy Gilpin joined San Juan College in 2018. She assists the Vice President of Learning and oversees the Library, Dual Credit Program, East and West Campuses and the Student Success Center. Previously she served as the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs at Fort Lewis College, where she provided oversight of the Writing Program and the Freshman Math Program, as well as development and oversight of advising and mentoring programs.

Gilpin played a vital role in the implementation of wrap-around services for students at Fort Lewis College. She worked closely with Student Success Services as well as Enrollment Services, with roles in retention and completion efforts, First Year Experience, Supplemental Instruction and other services for underrepresented students. Gilpin has also worked with the Charles A. Dana Center at the University of Texas as the lead consultant for the Oklahoma State Regents on their Math Pathways project, and with the state of Colorado on a similar project.

Gilpin holds a Master’s of Education degree in Secondary Education (Mathematics) from George Washington University and a B.A. in Mathematics from Colorado College. Her administrative experience, leadership in student success initiatives, background as an instructor in Mathematics, and reputation for effective collaborations are assets from which San Juan College and its students will benefit.
