Linda M. Jackson

President at San Rafael City Schools

Linda M. Jackson, President of the Board of Education, was originally appointed to the Board to fill a vacancy in February 2006. She was then elected to four years in November 2007 and was unopposed in the 2011, 2015 and 2020 elections.

She serves as Board liaison to the HeadsUp Foundation, Superintendent's Parents Council, LCAP Parent Advisory Committee, the City/Schools Liaison Committee, and the Budget Advisory committee. Her key board initiatives are the Community Schools Initiative and Student Voice. Linda is co-chair of the Marin County Office of Education’s Efficiency and Effectiveness Committee. Previously she was on the Executive Committee of the Marin County School Boards Association, and served as president for two terms. Linda was Marin's elected delegate to the Assembly of the California School Boards Association 2009 - 2015. Linda also previously served as Board President in 2010 and 2011.

Linda serves on the boards of the League of Women Voters, the Marin Environmental Housing Collaborative, Housing Crisis Action, and Sustainable San Rafael. She was previously on the boards of 10,000 Degrees (volunteering 15 years as a mentor for first-generation college applicants) and Canal Alliance. She is currently Program Director of the Marin Aging Action Initiative; before this position, Linda was Planning Manager with the Transportation Authority of Marin and Principal Planner with the City of San Rafael. She and her husband have three daughters and one goddaughter who attended San Pedro and Coleman elementary schools, Davidson Middle School and San Rafael High School.

Linda has an MA (Latin American studies) and an MS (Community and Regional Planning) from the University of Texas at Austin and a BA from Wellesley College. After college, Linda served two years in the Peace Corps in Ecuador.
