Natu Tuatagaloa

Vice President at San Rafael City Schools

Natu Tuatagaloa was elected to the Board in November 2001. Natu has served as Board President and Vice President multiple times during his tenure on the Board. Natu was awarded Marin County Trustee of the Year at the 2019 Golden Bell Award Ceremony.

He is a San Rafael native who attended Glenwood Pre-School, San Pedro Elementary School, Santa Venetia Middle School and then graduated from San Rafael High School in 1984. Natu is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. While at Cal, Natu played defensive line for the Bears and was voted Captain of the 1988 squad by his teammates. After graduating from Cal, Natu played six years in the National Football League as a defensive lineman for the Cincinnati Bengals, Seattle Seahawks, New Orleans Saints, and Houston Oilers.

Natu is a consultant, providing strategic management consulting and creating strategic partnerships to provide solutions through L.E.A.D. principles. Sectors include; education, renewable energy, engineering, sustainability, facilities, and technology infrastructure. Partnering with design/build/run firms, which specialize in full-service engineering, general construction, electrical, telecommunications, audiovisual, security, wireless, commercial solar PV / battery storage/wind power, and move management/logistics to support clients locally, nationally, and globally.

Natu has three children and one grandchild. Tianna, a 2004 graduate of San Rafael High School, received her B.A. at Gonzaga University and an M.B.A. in Global Sustainable Management at Dominican University. Tianna also played volleyball for the Zags and Penguins. Tianna and her husband Richie have a one-year-old daughter, Holland. Malia, a 2016 graduate of San Rafael High School, earned a scholarship to play volleyball for the Otters at CSU Monterey Bay and graduated with a B.A. in Kinesiology in December 2020. McKenna, a 2019 graduate of San Rafael High School, attended one year at the University of Colorado, Boulder, before transferring to Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo in 2020.
