Benjamin Shields

Benjamin Shields is a highly experienced professional in the field of cheminformatics and drug discovery. Currently serving as the Lead Machine Learning Cheminformatics Engineer at SandboxAQ since February 2024, Benjamin previously held various positions at Bristol Myers Squibb from January 2021 to January 2024, including Principal Scientist and Senior Scientist, as well as Research Investigator II in Cheminformatics. Benjamin's academic background includes a PhD in Chemistry and a Master’s degree in Chemistry from Princeton University, where significant research contributions were made as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Graduate Research Assistant. Additionally, Benjamin holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Applied Mathematics from the University of North Carolina Asheville. Prior to a successful scientific career, Benjamin gained valuable experience in the hospitality industry at The Asheville Bier Garden from November 2008 to February 2014.
